Hello to you all!
I guess you should know by now that, I'm no longer part of Morcheeba...
At the end of recording our 4th album Charango, Paul decided that he needed
to take a long break from Morcheeba, so we decided that we would all pursue
solo projects and get back together at a later date renewed and refreshed.
But, all good things come to an end, as they say and here I am a signed solo
artist ready to take on the world!
I had a fantastic time in Morcheeba, toured far and wide around Europe,
America, Canada and for the first time last year out to Australia, New
Zealand and China! Check out part of our trip to China (sponsored by The
British Council) on our From Brixton To Beijing DVD, I didn't realise back
then but our final concert was in London Trafalgar Square August 2003.
Anyways... All the best to Morcheeba and their new singer Daisy!
Sooo, what
have I been up to? Well... I've moved house, been chillin' with my family and
constantly writing new songs with my husband whilst searching for a
producer, had a lot of fun in a couple of different studios along the way.
We ended up in Los Angeles where three beautiful songs were written with the
amazing producer and writer Daniel Lanois.
On our last trip out there (July 04) we took a drive out to the desert with
a friend and visited The Joshua Trees Took loads of photos, It's such
an incredible place. We got to see Daniel perform there at this cool bar
called Pappy and Harriet's. He had a guest singer that night, Eric from the band
The Animals who got up and sang his famous song House Of The Rising Sun.
At the end of the evening I joined Daniel and his small band on stage and
sang along to one of his new songs called Joy. Then relaxed under the
stars.
Also been working with the equally talented writer and producer Pat Leonard.
We spent 10 days in the studio writing a song a day. It's an incredible
learning experience trying out different styles, and singing in a different
way. He'll say "What kinda song d'ya wanna write today?"
I'll say "Erm... I dunno... How about something up-tempo or blues-ish..."
He's been a great teacher and has really pushed my writing further and
further, both melodically and lyrically, crossing new boundaries, it's all
very exciting. I'll be going back out to LA soon to start recording my
solo album with him. Looking forward to that!
I'll keep ya posted. Mind how you go!
